Consultation FAQ
Who needs a consultation?
Every acne client begins with an acne consultation, in person or virtual. It is also the best first step for anyone who wants a personalized plan for their skin.
How long does a consultation take?
About 30 minutes, but please allow 45. We tend to get carried away talking about your skin.
How does a virtual consultation work?
It is a phone call rather than a video call. You send photos beforehand so we can zoom in and study your skin closely, which we find more reliable than a video camera.
Does the consultation fee go toward treatment or products?
No. The fee covers the consultation itself, including the preparation before and after: reviewing your intake form, history, medications and products, so our time together is spent building your plan.
Will I need to use your products?
Acne clients follow a complete Live by Skin home-care regimen. It lets us ensure the best results and adjust quickly if something is not working.
I have taken Accutane. Can I start?
You will need to be off Accutane for at least six months and bring a note from your doctor clearing you for treatment.
I am pregnant or breastfeeding. Can I still be treated?
Yes. Our pregnancy-safe options are the Lactic Acid Peel, the Restorative Facial, the Dermaplane Facial and the HydraFacial, and the Acne Facial can be adapted for pregnancy. Acne treatment plans can also be adjusted for pregnancy and breastfeeding. Please let us know when you book.
Do you treat back and body acne?
Yes. We treat acne on the back and body as well as the face.
Is there a minimum age?
Yes. Clients must be 18 or older.

52 Pleasant Street in Woburn, MA, just off Route 128/I-95 and I-93. Clients visit from Winchester, Burlington, Lexington, Medford, Stoneham, Reading, Wakefield, Arlington and greater Boston, and virtual consultations reach clients anywhere.
